• Be sure you meet with History’s Director of Academic Advising, Dr. Robert Haug (haugrt@ucmail.uc.edu), or the History Departments Director of Undergraduate Studies, Dr. Susan Longfield Karr (karrsn@ucmail.uc.edu), to ensure you are on track for meeting your history major and minor requirements.
  • Your History Advisors and Faculty can help you:
    • navigate the program.
    • select courses that best fit your interests and challenge you.
    • determine which major concentration(s) you are on track for and how to declare one.
    • learn about existing opportunities on the horizon, like future study abroad courses, new courses in History, and who you should reach out to in the department to learn more about different certificates, concentrations, events, and happenings!
  • Make sure to connect with your favorite faculty members on a regular basis; they can also tell you about great research opportunities, their future classes, as well as local events and activities.
  • Interested in a History Internship? Contact Dr. Rebecca Wingo, Director of Public History (wingora@ucmail.uc.edu).
  • Thinking about applying to law school? Connect with your pre-law advisor in History, Dr. Susan Longfield Karr (karrsn@ucmail.uc.edu).
  • Thinking about applying to graduate school in History? Reach out to your favorite faculty members for advice, strategies, and overall mentoring.
  • Education Majors: consider adding a History Major (Cross-College) early. Why? It will make you more competitive in the teaching job market than your peers who do not have a second major in history! You are already much closer to earning the Major than you might think!
  • Minors from colleges outside of Arts and Sciences: consider a Cross-College History Major. This option allows you to earn your History Major without adding additional GenEds to your home college’s requirements.
