About

The archive is the result of an active collaboration between the Cultural Center & Museum of Wyandotte Nation in Wyandotte, Oklahoma and the University of Cincinnati. Our partnership is grounded in model practices digital archival rematriation and emphasizes shared authority as well as shared responsibility.

Mission

Wyandot cultural heritage is spread across archival repositories spanning from New York to Oklahoma, and everywhere inbetween. The separation of Native Americans from the documents about their past is what Indigenous scholar and activist Vine Deloria, Jr. once referred to as “the right to know.”

The Wyandot Heritage Digital Archive (WHDA) seeks to digitally reunify the Wyandot archival record for the benefit of the present and future Wyandot(te) people by creating an online repository of resources connected to Wyandot history, culture, and language.
