Memorializing Trauma and Tragedy: Engraving the Mind and Remembrance deals with the ways in which we choose to remember and commemorate tragic events and losses such as the Holocaust, genocide, and war. Students learn the process of “engraving the mind” and take a closer look at the physical and literary monuments built to memorialize events.

Students must enroll under Hist 1090 for this course to count toward their history major or minor.
