I’m originally from Cincinnati, I’m an avid reader, I play guitar, and I have cat. I graduated from UC with in Spring 2023 with a Major in History.

What are you up to these days?  

I have been working as a scheduler for the Christ Hospital and continuing my research on the side.

What brought you to history at UC?

It was one of the best history programs in the Cincinnati area.

What did you focus on as a history student at UC?

I focused on general history to learn as much as I could.

Did you have any favorite history courses? Which ones and why?  

Dr. Matthew D. Norman’s WWI class was one of my all time favorites. I also enjoyed Dr. Willand Sunderland’s class on Peter the Great, which introduced me to topics I’ve never studied before.

What did you focus on in your capstone and why? 

My capstone, “Cruel Summer:​ ​​Why Europe Went to War in 1914​, ” was on how WWI began; it not only focused on the causes, but also explored whether it could it have been avoided.

What skills did you pick up from studying history that have served you well beyond your courses? 

Studying history has helped with my critical thinking, improved my writing skills, and has given me the ability to conduct in depth research.

Have any advice for current students? 

Never give up on yourself! There is always a history topic out there for you to fall in love with.
