I’m a first-year History major, minoring in Arabic Language and Culture, and I plan on graduating in the spring of 2027.

What brought you to the study of history at UC?

I had a passion for history in high school and realized I wanted to pursue it on another level.

What are you focusing on (so far) in your history major or minor?

I’m hoping to do a major concentration in Religion and Culture and am currently focusing on the Middle East.

What skills are you picking up from studying history that are coming in handy beyond your history classes?

I’ve picked up writing and reading on another level primarily, but I also have developed research and critical thinking skills.

Have any advice for incoming and prospective history students?

Do your reading! (Even if it’s not required). The primary sources and journal articles you will read throughout college will be as eye-opening as your average lecture.

What do you hope to do after college?

I hope to attend law school, become an attorney, and someday open my own firm.

What’s your favorite part of studying history at UC so far?

In-class discussions and debates are the perfect opportunity to learn from your peers; they are really fun. I would consider it my favorite part.
