I am an international student from India majoring in History and Digital Media with minors in Economics and International Business. I am very passionate about history; my interest is studying trade and globalization history. I graduate in the spring of 2025. Outside of the classroom, I’m a film producer. I have produced and directed over twenty films in the past eight years. Most of my documentaries are history-based, giving me a chance to tell untold stories to a larger audience.

What brought you to the study of history at UC?

I knew the university very well, as I have had family members who have attended the university before. I was 100% sure I wanted to study history because I was very passionate about it. Looking at the work, our incredible faculty members do made my interest in the major more profound.

What are you focusing on (so far) in your history major or minor? (i.e., chronological, geographical, or thematic focus, etc).

Officially, I’m doing history in general [no specific concentration], but when it comes to the topics I’m interested in, I like to look into the history of trade and globalization. As someone interested in economics, I have been able to work on projects that combine these two concentrations. My professors have been such a big help to me with my projects.

What skills are you picking up from studying history that are coming in handy beyond your history classes?

I have improved my writing and research skills a lot by studying history. My professors and these courses have inspired me to continue exploring ideas and expanding my horizons.

Have any advice for incoming and prospective history students?

My advice would be to connect with professors as much as you can. Just go and say hi and introduce yourself because once you make that connection, it can be very helpful in your college life because we have some of the best professors who love to help their students.

What do you hope to do after college?

After college, I plan to go to law school. I want to go into entertainment and media law specifically.

What’s your favorite part of studying history at UC so far?

My favorite memory has been the pizza and professors every semester. I always enjoyed talking to our professors and mingling with other students. Another favorite memory of mine here would be working with our faculty on my research project about the war in Ukraine, for which our professors, especially Dr. Sunderland, have provided such great insights and advice.
