Spring 2023; MW 2:30 – 3:50 PM

Dr. Sigrun Haude

This course will concentrate on pivotal events or turning points in the history of Christianity that have had a profound influence–both positive and negative–on the formation of our civilization.

Based on the analysis of historical experiences,  the course will raise questions about the relationship between religion & politics,  religion & science,  religion & reason, and the concept of multiple religions versus one “true” religion.

This is the first course of a two-semester sequence. This part will take us from the beginnings of Christianity to the eve of the Reformation (around 1500).
