This course explores the intersections between international human rights and U.S. foreign relations, broadly construed, focusing primarily on developments since World War I, to create a broader understanding of the ethical dimensions interwoven into the history of U.S. foreign relations that includes but extends beyond issues of diplomacy, trade, and war to include such matters as genocide, international humanitarian aid, struggles for racial justice, state sovereignty versus multilateralism, refugee affairs, and the Geneva Conventions.
