This course provides students an opportunity to examine the interactions of technology and society from the 18th century to the present from a global perspective.
The class focuses on the development of technological policies, the relationship between technology and science, the influence of technology on culture/society, and technology’s role in warfare.
Technological development will be used as a way to explore critical issues about economic growth, the nature of work, technological determinism, and national identity.
