Dr. Sigrun Haude
This course concentrates on pivotal events or turning points in the history of Christianity that has had a profound influence–both positive and negative–on the formation of our civilization.
Based on the analysis of historical experiences, the course will raise questions about the relationship between religion & politics, religion & science, religion & reason, and the concept of multiple religions versus one “true” religion.
This is the second course of a two-semester sequence (not a required pre-requisite). It begins around 1500 with a discussion of crises, reform, and piety prior to the Reformation and continues its analysis of developments and crucial turning points in Christianity to the present.
